Warmer weather means two things to me: sandals and fun pedicures. I'll start with the first part. Since living in LA, I don't walk around as much, but I do wear sandals almost year round. I found that getting a pair of a fun print or colorful sandal helps dress up an otherwise typical shorts and a t-shirt outfit. It is an easy way to add color or a statement to your everyday look.
I was approached by Rocket Dog to showcase their new collection of sandals and was VERY excited to browse the site and try to narrow it down to two styles. When I received the shoes, the first thing I noticed is that even though both sandals were platforms, they weren't ridiculously high where my ankle would snap. And, the footbed was like walking on clouds. Next step would be figuring out an outfit to pair them with -easy.
For my first outfit, I chose my favorite kind of look: Canadian tuxedo. Pairing black denim jeans with a thrifted blue denim jacket, I added the blue Vega Webbing sandals and it funked up my usual double denim look. I also wore them the next day to work and received so many compliments - I didn't realize how bright and colorful they were. Weird, right?
Since 90% of my closet consists of prints and patterns I decided to clash up the yellow Venus Snake sandals with an acid wash pair of pants from Urban Outfitters that I bought maybe 10 years ago, a black turtleneck from Goodwill for balance, and my favorite leopard print jacket that I found in Chicago a few years back at a vintage shop. The snake print is surprisingly easy to pair with an outfit: wear all black and BAM yellow snake print adds some style, wear a simple dress and BAM yellow snake print adds some sass.
